Brain Clog?

Sometimes my mind does not want to focus on what it is I should be working.  Now is one of those times.  I should be working through my task as I sit here at my desk, but I’m a little tired and my mind just doesn’t want to wrap itself around the task at hand.  Why is that?  I’m obviously coherent and focused enough to be sitting here banging out these words on the keyboard.  I don’t dislike what it is I’m supposed to be doing at this moment.  I dunno…

Anyway,  I am tired.  I was awakened multiple times last night by a puppy that apparently had had enough sleep during the day yesterday.  He was less than pleased about being kept in his bed/crate for the night.  I’m tired…

I just nixed the page on this blog site that contained the first part of Mind the Shadows.  It’s a story I’ve been working on now and then for a few years now.  I found a couple of mistakes as I was looking at it, so I decided removal was the best course of action until such time I decide it’s worth fixing and putting back out here.

Besides, I never got a lot of feedback on it.  There are likely a couple of reasons for that…

The first reason was my naive presumption that I could create a page, mention that page in a couple of blog posts (a WHILE back) and simply get some “interactive traffic” there. Live and learn 🙂

The second reason was my lack of motivation/promotion for it.  It kind of ties into my lack of blog site experience.  The truth, though, is that I didn’t realize that I actually have to work to promote my work… go figure O_o  😉  Now that I’ve seen how folks like Dirty Sci-Fi Buddha (Kent Wayne) promote their literary works, I now know that I have to be more like that to get my stuff noticed and hopefully get some feedback.  I also welcome any advice on how to go about that and not lose followers.

Well enough of being off task for now… thanks for taking the time to stop by and give this a read 🙂

  1. Interesting reading this post during the current Covid times. Your title Brain Clog is how I would best describe my mood right now. Tired, lethargic, unmotivated, just looking for some good news any good news to brighten things up. I do agree that is always a drag when people do not interact on posts. So much better when they do, good or bad. Stay well, my friend. Allan

    1. I guess it’s a good thing that there is still some relevance to this post. I’m sorry to read that you’re in such a mood as I have described, though. Sadly, I have had this mood way more often than it should be, but I guess recent times have not made it easy to dodge such a bullet.
I hope you get out of your funk. Yes, it is a good thing when there is feedback/interaction on a post. It feels good that there is interest in what you’ve written. It’s nice to know that there are others out there that can relate to what’s posted.
Hang in there. You don’t strike me as someone who allows himself to remain in a slump longer than necessary.
Thanks for reading and interacting 🙂

  2. Please know that you’re not the only one who is struggling with the marketing aspects of blogging. I understand your frustration because I’m not very good at promoting my content either.
To be honest, I’m not a racing enthusiast. But, I’d be happy to take a look at some of the other content on your blog. So, don’t lose heart. Keep blogging.

    1. Thanks, Norah. I’m not too frustrated. My motivation to write this blog is personal. I like to write. I’m having fun. So, I’m not likely to stop anytime soon. I appreciate your choice to give my blog a look. Don’t worry… most of my content is not about racing. The “up-tick” is due to a revival of my interest in sim racing. So, with the small amount of time I have to give to my blog recently, that’s what I’ve posted about. Other shtuff will pop up 🙂 Thanks again.

  3. I don’t have any advice to provide (this time, because I do tend to offer advice I don’t even know if people want 😉 ), but I have to say I’m very curious to read your work. Why did you have to let us know about it exactly when we can’t read it anymore? 😥

    1. AHHHH I can’t win… 😉
I have just restored it per your “request”. It’s funny how I didn’t permanently delete it (things that make you go hmmm). The link is there on my main page.
You’re right… I should’ve just “complained” a little about not getting feedback and left it out there… a form of advertising, if you will Your “lack of advice” might be good advice this time 🙂
