An Old Attempt at Poetry

The ice cracks. No place to run

Melted just enough

Oh, curse the sun

A downward plunge into stabbing cold

Panic stricken

Not brave… not bold

A sharp inhale for a desperate breath

Icy shards

Taste liquid death

Eyes wide shut against a flash of life

Which way is up

Why not a knife

As tearing freeze begins to fade

Shame replaces fear

One less sign obeyed

Warmth replaces a need for breath

Fade to black

Walk again with the angel of Death

I took a couple of writing classes in high school. They stuck. I'm a gamer and a writer. I'm a techie. I like to ponder many different things. My mind is always racing with something. Since I like to write, I'll share some of what's racing around in my head. I appreciate you following along. Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to let me know what you think, too. Conversations are better than monologues.

  1. Yep. I put that down probably over 20 years ago. It has survived some data transfers, edits and evolution. I stumbled on it the other night and made one little adjustment to the last line. Then I decided to post it.
    Glad you like it 🙂
